史蒂文Laitz has been a 音乐 Theory 和 Analysis faculty member since 2014 和 became chair of the department in fall 2015. Laitz has authored two leading textbooks: The Complete 音乐ian—An Integrated Approach to Tonal Theory, Analysis 和 ListeningGraduate Review of Tonal Theory—A Recasting of Common-Practice Harmony, Form, 和 Counterpoint (both Oxford University Press). Laitz has been the editor-in-chief of the Journal of 音乐 Theory Pedagogy 自2009年以来, having previously served as a member of the publication’s editorial review board 和 as its reviews editor.

Laitz is the chair of music theory at the Eastman School of 音乐, where he has taught since 1989. (He also teaches chamber music there.) In 2013, he was appointed director of the Gail Boyd de Stwolinski Center for 音乐 Theory Pedagogy at the University of Oklahoma. An expert in the relationship between analysis 和 performance, Laitz has taught piano 和 music analysis at the Chautauqua Institution for many summers. Laitz received his bachelor’s 和 master’s degrees from the University of California at Riverside 和 his doctorate from Eastman.
